Today I am so excited to be sharing Rainey’s minimal in-home newborn photos. Finding my way as a newborn photographer has been such a sweet journey. When Kathryn reached out wanting timeless portraits that can grace their walls as their families and style trends evolve, I was honored.

I could have stayed all day and hung out with this sweet family while they snuggled. However, I am sure everyone was excited to get back into comfy clothes and watch the snow fall from their cozy fireplace.

When I think about the portraits that I want to pass along to my children, I want to hand down frames that are classic and simple, while still fitting in with my home decor. Not only that, but as a mom of very little children, I want to look back fondly on the time we spent having our portraits taken. Not with regret at how stressed out I was but with a smile at how silly my toddlers were or how I can’t believe we got a smile out of the baby.

That’s why, as a photographer, I want you to know that you will be taken care of. I want to talk through your vision, walk you through my process, help you select wardrobe and put your mind at ease. It’s hard work bringing a child into the world. The last thing your sleep-deprived self needs is to worry about photos.

Kathryn’s vision for her session included simple, natural poses, neutral colors, and tender moments. Because of this I knew we were a match made in heaven. I have been moving more toward a neutral look for newborns because I think they make for such classic photos.
